Improvement on our support legs

We would like to inform you of an important improvement to the support leg of our seats. The electronic beeping sound that was previously there is now replaced with a mechanical solution that provides a click sound. This is both a more sustainable and durable solution.

Background The car seat regulation UN R129 requires a visual and audible signal to identify if the floor support of a CRS is supported correctly on the ground in front of a vehicle seat. For several years we have had a solution with a battery that creates a beeping sound. The sound stops when the floor support is installed correctly. When the seat isn’t being used in a car the warning sound is turned off by putting on a yellow cap.

What does this change mean?

On the new solution, the electronic alarm system has been replaced by a mechanical solution where a relatively loud ”click” sound is triggered when the support leg is pushed correctly into the ground. As before, it will also have green indicators to signal that it is correctly positioned. The old version of the support leg came with a yellow cap that stopped the beeping sound when transporting the seat, this cap is no longer needed. 

Why? 

This is a more sustainable solution since it doesn’t involve batteries. The yellow cap is no longer needed, which means that fewer parts risk getting lost. 

Has anything else changed on the seats? 

Nothing else has changed on the seats.

When is this change in production? 

This will be an ongoing change, so there will be no changes to the EAN or article number. The change has been implemented in our production as of March/April 2023. The change will roll out continuously as the new support legs are produced. Some seats with the new leg have already reached your stores. In case of repairs, the new version will be used. The new version can also be ordered as a spare part.

Affected seats: 

The change will be made on our iZi Modular i-Size ISOfix base and newer car seat models with integrated support leg approved according to UN R129; all versions of iZi Modular, iZi Turn, iZi Twist and Stretch.

Not affected by production change: All versions of iZi Plus, iZi Kid, iZi Comfort, iZi Combi.
